If you’ll be in Austin for SXSW 2018 then you won’t want to miss 2018 VoyagerFest, showcasing Austin’s progressive music and art scene.
Even if you are not attending SXSW, live in the area, or just want to check it out, you should make your way down to Kenny Dorham’s Backyard on Thursday 15 March, in the heart of Austin’s historic East End cultural district.
There’s no charge to attend. No tickets required.
I thoroughly enjoyed attending the last edition about 18 months ago. So on the fly with zero pre-planning, I shot and edited a video montage of that experience. Besides still photography, I enjoy shooting and editing video—especially to music, but rarely have time for it anymore.
I used relatively primitive equipment compared to what I’d really like to have in my arsenal. Just one camera, no tripod, and one basic external mic.
I know some of the organizers, and they were gracious to allow me to shoot up close and personal. I did it mainly just to practice shooting live music again, listen to some cutting edge non four chord tunes and meet some really talented musicians, artists and volunteers!
